Aviation SMS Training & Educating Staff Checklist Using SMS Pro

1) Does aviation safety management system include process for ensuring staff will understand how Aviation SMS operates?
SMS Pro has an SMS Induction Agreement that each user signs when they are inducted into the flight operation's aviaiton safety management system.  The first question is "I understand how our safety management system operates."
If uses are not certain how SMS Pro or the aviation safety mangement system operates in their organization, there is an open textbox for them to provide comments and concerns.  These comments are emailed to all safety managers in the flight department.
In addition, there is a "Manage SMS Inductees" function that allows aviation safety managers to see who has not agreed or acknowledged agreement as to how their organization's aviation safety management system operates. This utility allows aviation safety managers to see all users who have not been inducted.  Safety managers select checkboxes next to names of users not inducted and are able to send personalized messages, indicating that training is scheduled, or to notify them that they are still required to login and go to "My Safety / SMS Induction Agreement" and acknowledge their awareness and agreement of the statements in the module.
2) Does aviation safety management system include process for ensuring staff will be aware of the role they play in Aviation SMS?
SMS Pro has a documented SMS Induction Agreement that users acknowledge they have been inducted into the flight operation's aviaiton safety management system.  The second question is "I'm aware of the role I play in our safety management system."
As stated above, if they are not aware of the role they play in your aviation safety management system, they can leave comments that are emailed to all aviation safety officers in the organization.
3) Does aviation safety management system include process for ensuring staff will understand the aim of Aviation SMS is to improve safety – not to attribute blame?
SMS Pro has a user-friendly SMS Induction Agreement that users acknowledge they have been inducted into the flight operation's aviaiton safety management system. The third question states: "I understand the aim of our safety management system is to improve safety -- not to attribute blame."
If users don't agree to this statement, they can leave comments in the textbox provided and submit their comments to all of the aviation safety managers in the organization.  Safety managers can then followup and indoctrinate the user.
4) Does aviation safety management system include a process for ensuring all personnel will attend induction and ongoing safety related training?
SMS Pro has an SMS Induction Agreement that users acknowledge they have been inducted into the flight operation's aviaiton safety management system. By acknowledging all four questions in the "SMS Induction Agreement," users are documented as to have been formally inducted into your organization's aviation safety management system.  SMS Pro tracks which users have been inducted and the date of their SMS induction.  Furthermore, by going to the "Manage SMS Inductees" function, managers can see at a glance who has not been inducted or does not agree with the SMS Induction Agreement.
